
Silk
apparel are considered to be the most luxurious and comfortable attire.
Silk fabric is the most absorbent of fabrics and is the best fabric for
drape and color. These are capable of the greatest luster and is soil,
moth & mildew resistant. Strongest among the natural fabrics, silk
is cool in summer and warm in winter.
Fabric Weaves
Silks are woven fabrics. Fabric weave helps determine such
characteristics as strength and durability of the fabric as well as
beauty. Since silk is so strong naturally, less durable weaves may be
used to achieve a particular look not capable in other fabrics.
Types of Silk Fabric
Broadcloth is same as China silk except that these are heavier and
wrinkles less. Chiffon a soft plain wave fabric made with twisted yarns
and China Silk is best used for lining and crafts & are inexpensive,
often called washable silk. Crepe de Chine is popular for clothing dur
to its lustrous and superior drape; Organza is made of tightly twisted,
fine yarns; use for interfacing, veils, under gowns. Charmeuse is crepe
backed satin and has rich luster that drapes beautifully. Brocade is
often available with metallic thread, usually contains some rayon and
are good for jackets. Noil is the raw, spun silk with nubby texture.
Their appearance is that of soft cotton or wool.

Silk is widely used in apparel manufacturing industry. The major end
uses of silk is in the making of women's apparel, blouses, skirts,
jackets, pants, pants, scarves, shirts sarees, lehenga, salwar suite,
gowns, undergarments and other attires.
