Garments
embellished with sequins have elegance, charm and sophistication. To
enhance the look of ready-to-wear garments, designers use the type and
quality of sequin that matches on those garments. The flat sequins are
used on evening and casual garments, where they are placed on top of a
printed design or they can create a design on a soft chiffon. The sequin
finish on the garments reflect the color they are placed on.
Sewing on Sequins
Artist matches the thread to the color of the garment and then uses the
perfect sized needle according to the fiber. Sequins are sewn on one at
a time and they may overlap, but they should not line up in a row like
string sequins. Sequins have a hole in the center and one stitch through
this hole is sufficient to hold the sequin in place. However, two to
three stitches keeps it flat and resists loss. At the end, it is tied
off or knotted after each group or area of sequins is sewn.
Sequin Clothing
Sequining technique can be used on clothing which have to be given an
elegant look. These are used in most of the women's dresses including
skirts, shirts, bridal dresses, capris, wraparound, undergarments,
lingerie, stoles and scarves.
