Wide
variety of fabrics are renowned for their quality and have fascinated
people from all parts of the world. Fabric weaving is a traditional art
that has been passed on from one generation to another, though plenty of
synthetic fabrics have also gained immense popularity.
Cotton, silk, and wool are the three materials from which textiles are
woven. The cotton plant grows in many regions of India, each of which
produces a different grade product. Wild silk moths are the source of
silk. The fleece of mountain goats raised in the cold regions of the
country, Kashmir, Ladakh, and the Himalayas is spun into wool. Pashmina
is made from the fine inner fleece of wild goats collected from the
rocks and bushes on which it is shed in the summer.
Man made and synthetic fibers are the result of an extensive search by
scientists to increase and improve upon the supply of naturally
occurring animal and plant fibers that have been used in making cloth.
Improvements in technology have made synthetic fabrics more attractive,
durable and, well, acceptable, even for those with discriminating taste.
It include fabrics such as rayon, polyester, acrylic etc.
